Snipe-IT

Overview

Snipe-IT is a widely used open-source IT asset management system built to replace spreadsheet-based inventory tracking. It manages the full asset lifecycle — check-ins and check-outs, location history, licences and consumables — for IT teams of any size. You can self-host the free version on your own server, or use the paid cloud-hosted service for managed support.

It is known for its robust REST API and customisability, making it a favourite where custom integrations and automation matter.
